I visited Dr. Murray Friday and asked him about the nature of memory - and whether or not artist retain more memory than non-artist.  Dr. Murray gave me a funny look when I asked him this - then he shared with me his thoughts.  I always walk away from our meeting’s feeling like I’m where I’m supposed to be in this process. (it’s a good feeling)

Sometimes we have to go backwards to move forward. The past few months I’ve looked into so many mental file cabinets - revisiting memories - it’s just part of this process.  At this moment in my life - moving forward means returning to work with black and white - and an occasional splash of color.

I love the pink, green and purple colors of Easter - but other than that it’s just another day for me.  Maybe the beauty that was once 5Pointz will be resurrected one day.

The Michel Majerus exhibit closes today - (sigh).  His work has left me with something in the back of my mind that drives me - no matter what seems to be stacked against me.

I made it out to PS1 to share more time with Korakrit Arunanondchai’s work.  Whenever I visit PS1 - I leave with a tingle - like that feeling ya get when your a little kid after riding the roller coaster for the first time.

Recently I read that Rudolf Stingel examined the nature of memory over the past 20 years - while expanding the scope and definition of painting.  This made me wonder - what is the nature of memory and do artist retain more memory than other people?  I’m seeing my psychiatrist on Friday and will be sure to ask him this question.

Sharing time with David Wojnarowicz’s Falling Buffalo brought back memories of the New York I knew back in the ‘80’s.  I left PPOW thinking about how I only worked in black and white then - this process - and like how I’m returning to black and white.

Before going to bed last night I set my alarm for 3:30 so I wouldn’t miss the eclipse.  There I was standing on my stoop looking into the night sky, but all I could see were clouds -  then I realized I was naked.  I got back in bed and at one point I had the weirdest dream - I think it was another ATRIPLA dream.  When I decided to officially wake up today - I stayed in bed for a while thinking about everything - where I am in this process and how I’m guided by a source of energy far away from the world I know.

I spent the weekend in SOHO - attending a workshop where I meditated with a group.  We also were guided through visualization exercises and at one point - in my mind - I began to see Jeff Elrod’s work.  At that moment I could see the outcome of a project I’m working on - it was simply magical!

It isn’t that often I feel this way - but I’m really going to miss spending time with Pawel Althamer’s work.  I don’t know what it is - and maybe I’m not supposed to know - but there is a connectivity with Althamer’s work  that I cannot put into words.

Last night I thought about where I was a year ago - I mean how insanely busy I was with work.  Now - a year later - new doors are opening and it’s like a reflection of what was happening last year - I love it! Though I wish I could have just one day - no phone - no computer -  to stay in bed with someone - and snuggle.

I love works consisting of black and white - so I felt really happy sharing time with Jeff Elrod’s work.  At the same I began to feel like my pupils were dilated - the experience left me feeling like I was floating in the clouds.

Rudolf Stingel’s paintings are like faded vintage photographs.  Sharing time with his work brought back memories of playing with snow globes when I was a kid - imagining a world far away.

Matthias Bitzer’s exhibit Saturnine Swing took me to a multi layered realm - to a space where I experienced so many different emotions.  It was like looking at layer upon layer of information - like what I often experience when I’m in the shower - where thoughts and ideas come from out of nowhere.

When I spotted this van yesterday - I immediately thought about Kevin Cyr’s recent exhibition Right Place, Right Time.  I love it when I see life imitating art!
